Superintendent’s Message:

Members of the Upper Dauphin Area School Community,

As a graduate of the school district and lifelong community member, I couldn’t be prouder to serve the students and families of the Upper Dauphin Area School District as Superintendent.  Previously, I have collaborated with many of you through my role as Upper Dauphin Area Middle School Principal for over three years, and High School Principal for two years. I look forward to continuing those relationships, while maintaining what is in the best interest of the Upper Dauphin Area students.  The Upper Dauphin Area School District will continue to focus our efforts on student character development as the foundation of education. I am confident that our leadership team and the dedicated and caring faculty and staff we’ve assembled will continue to provide a quality educational experience to the students that walks through our doors each day.

As public education trends continue to evolve at a rapid rate, UDASD will offer our constituency a healthy balance of traditional yet progressive perspectives as we make decisions about our children’s future moving forward. As a small rural school with an enormous sense of pride, we will continue to concentrate on developing the whole child, while maintaining high expectations of academic rigor. Our daily routine will include conscious efforts to fully implement the UDASD Mission Statement; to empower our students to be lifelong learners in order to reach their greatest potential.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Upper Dauphin Area educational community. I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to continuing to commit myself to the staff, students, and families within the Upper Dauphin Area School District. Go Trojans!

2023-2024
Superintendent Mr. Jared Shade received a proficient+ rating at the school board meeting on July 9th, 2024. Comment received: “Jared Shade is an outstanding educator dedicated to our district and our community. He has provided leadership to not only Upper Dauphin Area School District  but to all northern Dauphin county communities. Jared is a leader of distinction who has the skills, vision and personality to inspire others. We are very proud to have Jared Shade leading UDA.”

In addition to School Board policies, the Upper Dauphin Area School District (UDASD) has developed Administrative Regulations which are used to guide the daily operations of the UDASD.

2024-2025 District Goals

  • All mandated teachers will receive comprehensive professional development in structured literacy by the end of the year as required by the PA Department of Education.
  • Strengthen relationships with our students, families and community through the Discovery culture to improve attendance, engagement and academic success.
  • Collaborate with community and industry partners to expand and enhance our educational opportunities and programming.
