The District Athletic Director is accountable for the supervision and execution of various core knowledge areas identified for the position. The person in this position uses supervisory, organizational, planning, communication, technical and conflict management skills to ensure that the assigned core knowledge areas are carried out effectively to meet the goals and objectives set forth annually by the School Board, Superintendent of Schools and High School Principal.
This position will manage the Cooperative Sports Program between the Upper Dauphin Area School District and Millersburg Area School District. Therefore, the individual will have accountability to the administration of both school districts.
- Developing and enforcing participation and eligibility rules related to extracurricular programs and student-athletes.
- Ensuring compliance with PIAA, District III, and league rules and regulations.
- Communicate with stakeholders of extracurricular programs.
- Managing the enrollment process for extracurricular activities.
- Administering the district-wide athletics and extracurricular programs.
- Managing the athletic training contract and on-site certified athletic trainer.
- Managing extracurricular coaches and advisors.
- Evaluating staff and implementing corrective action where needed.
- Obtaining and managing event staff for sporting events.
- Obtaining and managing officials for sporting events.
- Coordinating transportation for extracurricular events.
- Manage PIAA, District III, and league playoff events.
- Manage the athletics budget and the purchasing of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with high school and middle school athletic administration.
Work Year:
Full-time, 245 Days based on District Schedule.
Work Schedule:
Flexible schedule to allow attendance at and management of evening and weekend athletic events and meetings.
Normal work hours as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.
Emergency Management:
Position is subject to callback due to emergency situations.
Position will carry or be in proximity to emergency radio communications during working hours.
Job Rate:
Hiring: Salary commensurate with experience.
Ongoing: As decided annually by the School Board.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit at desk for extended periods.
- Repetitive movements of hands and fingers necessary for computer and calculator work.
- Some lifting (50 lbs.) and some carrying (25 lbs.).
- Some bending, stooping, climbing, reaching and turning/twisting.
- Writing and computer entry.
Work Environment:
Office setting as well as both indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
Equipment to Operate:
Computer, mobile devices, telephone, scanner, television and audio/visual equipment, sound system, scoreboards, timers and radios.

- Athletics Secretary (joint supervision with the Supervisor of Special Education and Student Services)
- Game Manager
- Event Staff
- Head Coaches
- Athletic Trainer (Contractor)
