Pre-K Counts
Pre-K Counts Program
UDA is thrilled to offer two Pre-K Counts Classrooms to students in UDASD and the surrounding communities! The Pre-K Counts Program is established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and brings quality pre-kindergarten to three and four year-olds in Pennsylvania. The Pre-K Counts Program runs from 8:30 a.m. -1:45 p.m., Monday-Friday. Transportation is not provided by the school district.
The annual enrollment and selection process takes place in the spring for the upcoming school year. Applications are accepted year-round but students may be placed on a waitlist until an open spot is available.
What does the Pre-K Counts Program provide my child?
The main objective of our current program is to help our children to grow socially and emotionally. We strongly believe that if children learn how to interact with their peers, appropriately express their feelings, and engage in meaningful play, they will be successful in kindergarten and beyond. Academics are of course interwoven into our program, but we make sure to provide the academic skills through developmentally appropriate activities and lessons. According to the PA Department of Education, children who come to kindergarten without all the skills they need often stay behind and struggle in school. Quality pre-kindergarten prepares children for reading and math, but also for paying attention, following directions and getting along with others. Pre-kindergarten gives children a chance to learn, become excited about school and be better students.
What does Pre-K Counts cost?
Pre-K Counts is free to eligible families!
How does my child qualify for Pre-K Counts?
