As Teacher Appreciation week comes to a conclusion, I wanted to share my utmost gratitude with you as the teachers and staff of Upper Dauphin Area. I am so proud of each of you for inspiring and encouraging our students to become lifelong learners in order to reach their greatest potential. Thank you for managing adversity and cultivating an exciting learning environment for each of our students.
I also would like to add a special thank you to our retirees. Thank you for being amazing teachers, mentors, and friends. I appreciate the tireless hours you’ve put into the teaching profession and our students over the years. Enjoy your retirement!
Although we have a higher than average number of vacancies due to these retirements and other resignations, I am extremely hopeful and excited about our potential candidates. Our interview panels have been making excellent progress in choosing the best teachers to partner with you not only to motivate, care for, and educate the young people in our community, but also to collaborate and become contributing members of our UDA family.
Selecting Abbey Walshaw-Wertz as our new High School principal is an example of this. I am confident her educational leadership experiences will meet the needs of our high school. UDA is excited to have her lead the many amazing educational and extracurricular opportunities offered by our high school staff.
I am truly excited for our future in public education. I believe we will continue to offer our unique blend of progressive ideas with traditional values.
A huge thank you for all you do for our students and this community!
Yours in education,
Jared W. Shade
